Areas covered — summary

First Class Chauffeurs covers 606 named areas across the United Kingdom, from the central London squares out to the Highlands, the Welsh coast and the six counties of Northern Ireland. Each area has its own page carrying the roads that govern access, the stations used for collections, the landmarks a chauffeur navigates by, indicative drives to the airports that serve it and the neighbouring areas we also cover. Coverage is grouped into 21 regions, and every region has an index of its own. The work is the ground half of a longer journey: the run to the terminal, the meet inside the arrivals hall, the hours held between appointments and the long-distance drives that replace a change of train. Quoted figures are published by vehicle class and a written quotation confirms the price for a specific journey.

01The short version

Where a First Class car will go

The list below is the whole of it. 606 areas, each with a page written for that place rather than a template with the name swapped out: the roads that decide how a car gets in and out, the stations we collect from, the hotels and venues used as reference points, and the indicative drive to whichever airport that area actually uses.

Coverage is grouped into 21 regions, ten of them inside Greater London and eleven across the rest of the country. If your town is not on the list it does not mean we will not drive there. It means nobody has written the page yet, and the quickest route to an answer is to send the journey and get a written figure back.

04How it works

What is behind each of these names

What an area page actually tells you

CV-01What an area page actually tells you

What an area page actually tells you

Each of the 606 pages opens with what the place is like to drive rather than what it is like to visit. Which road governs access at eight in the morning, where a long saloon can legally stand, which entrance at the local hotel is the one used for loading, and how far it really is to the airport that area uses.

Underneath that sit the practical numbers: indicative door-to-terminal drives, road distances, the postcode districts covered, and the stations we collect from when rail is doing the middle of the journey. None of it is a guarantee, and none of it is padded out with figures nobody checked.

  • The roads, stations and landmarks a chauffeur navigates by
  • Indicative drives and distances to the airports that area uses
  • Where the car can wait, and what to do when it cannot
  • Four questions answered for that place alone
London, and everywhere that is not London

CV-02London, and everywhere that is not London

London, and everywhere that is not London

Ten of the twenty-one groups are inside Greater London, which reflects the work rather than any preference. A car in Mayfair and a car in Aberdeen are the same booking with different roads under it, and the standard of welcome does not change because the postcode does.

Outside London the pattern shifts. Journeys get longer, the airport is often regional rather than one of the five London gates, and the reason for booking is more likely to be a two-hundred-mile run than a twenty-minute one. The pages reflect that, which is why the Cornwall entries do not read like the Clerkenwell ones.

How we cover somewhere that is not on the list

The list is the set of places with a written page, not the set of places we drive to. A collection from a village between two of these entries is an ordinary booking; it just gets priced against the nearest named area rather than one of its own.

Long-distance work makes this obvious. A run from London to a house in the Borders passes through nothing on this list for two hours at a time, and the quotation covers the whole journey rather than the parts of it we have written about.

Airports, rates and how a booking is made

Airports are the spine of the coverage

Airports are the spine of the coverage

Almost every area page carries at least two airports, nearest first, with an indicative drive and a road distance. That is the single most useful number on the page, because it is the one people work backwards from when they are deciding what time to be ready.

The meet works the same way everywhere. The chauffeur parks, walks into the arrivals hall, and stands at the barrier with a name board. Flights are tracked from the tail number, so a two-hour hold changes our arrival time rather than your booking, and the waiting is part of the transfer.

The written quotations do not change by postcode. An hourly booking in Harrogate is priced from the same card as one in Knightsbridge, and the difference between two transfers is the distance and the time of day rather than the address on the front of the quotation.

As-directed hire is booked in a block of hours with the car held for you between stops; airport transfers are quoted per journey. No standing price list is published anywhere on this site, and the written quotation is what fixes the price.

Send the date, the pick-up address, where you are going and how many people and cases are travelling. If it is an airport run, add the flight number and the airline, because the airline decides the terminal and the terminal decides where the car stops.

A written quotation comes back naming the vehicle, the collection time we would recommend and what the figure covers. Nothing is metered, nothing is multiplied for a Friday, and if the journey changes we requote in writing rather than adjusting an invoice afterwards.

09What it costs

One way of pricing, every area

A price does not move by postcode. It moves by vehicle class, by distance and by the hour the journey runs.

Hourly, as directed

By the block

The car held for you between stops, with a minimum block named on the quotation.

Airport transfers

Per journey

Quoted on the actual drive rather than on a zone map.

Long distance

By the route

One car and one chauffeur from end to end.

No standing price list. Send the journey on WhatsApp and the written quotation confirms the price, what it includes and any applicable tax. The pricing page sets out what moves a figure, and a written quotation fixes the figure for a specific journey.

10Answers

Questions about coverage

What people ask before booking from somewhere on this list.

Do you actually cover all 606 of these areas?

Yes. Each one has a page written for it, and a car can be sent to any of them. The list is grouped into 21 regions so it can be read; it is not a set of zones with different rules. What changes between a Mayfair booking and a Merthyr Tydfil one is the distance and the roads, not the service.

My town is not on the list. Can you still drive me?

Almost certainly. The list is the set of places with a written page rather than the limit of where we go. Send the pick-up address with your enquiry and the journey is priced against the nearest covered area. Long-distance work regularly runs through places that have no page at all.

Is the price different depending on the area?

The pricing page is the same everywhere. What changes is the journey: a transfer is quoted on its distance and the hour it runs, and hourly hire is quoted on the published rate for the class of car with its stated minimum. The written quotation confirms the final figure, what it includes and any applicable tax.

Which airport will you use from my area?

The area page names the airports that place actually uses, nearest first, with an indicative drive and a road distance for each. In much of the South East that means Heathrow or Gatwick; in the North West it is usually Manchester; in Scotland it is Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen. Tell us the flight and we will confirm which is quickest on the day.

Can one booking collect from two different areas?

Yes, and it is common. A car might pick up in one area, collect a colleague in the next and then run to the terminal, all on one price. Put both addresses on the enquiry so the collection times are worked out properly rather than guessed at the kerb.

How far in advance should an area booking be made?

The sooner the better for a specific vehicle class, particularly for early-morning airport runs and for the larger cars. That said, same-day work is normal and the answer is always a written quotation rather than a range on the phone. Availability is confirmed on that quotation, never in advance of it.
