Central London is the densest driving on this site and the least forgiving. Park Lane, the Embankment and Marylebone Road carry most of the through traffic, and almost everything inside them is one-way, bus-gated or double-yellow for the whole of its length. The skill is not route-finding; it is knowing which fifty yards of kerb will tolerate a stationary saloon at nine in the morning.
The work here divides cleanly. Hotels on Park Lane and around Knightsbridge generate airport transfers all day. The City and Canary Wharf generate early departures and late returns. The West End generates evening work that finishes at midnight and has no fixed end time, which is why so much of it is booked by the hour rather than by the journey.
Every central area page names the roads that govern access to that specific set of streets, the stations we collect from, and the hotels and buildings used as reference points. A Soho collection and a Belgravia collection are both Central London and they have almost nothing in common at street level.
