The Midlands chauffeur coverage — summary

The Midlands is the crossroads of the motorway network, and that is not a figure of speech. The M6, M1, M40, M42, M5, M69 and A1 all pass through or meet inside this region, which makes it the easiest part of England to leave in any direction and one of the hardest to cross at four in the afternoon. Two airports sit at its centre. Birmingham is on the M42 beside the NEC, and East Midlands is on the M1 between Derby and Loughborough. Between them they cover most short-haul flying from the region, which means the long southern run to Heathrow is a choice rather than an obligation, and the area pages treat it that way. The work splits between the two halves. The west generates exhibition, conference and corporate travel around Birmingham, Solihull and Coventry. The east generates city-to-city work between Nottingham, Leicester and Derby, and longer runs out to Lincoln and the Peak District. Each area page carries the roads, the stations and the drive times that apply to its own town. 49 areas are listed on this page, each with a page of its own carrying the roads that govern access, the stations used for collections, the landmarks a chauffeur navigates by and indicative drives to the airports that place actually uses. Each vehicle class is quoted individually and a written quotation confirms the price, what it includes and any applicable tax.

01The short version

Chauffeur service across The Midlands

Distances in The Midlands are deceptive. Birmingham and Leicester look close together until you try to get between them at school-run time, and a run that is twenty minutes on a Sunday is not twenty minutes on a Tuesday.

We plan collections against the hour, the road and the direction of travel. The written quotation names a time we are confident about, which is usually earlier than the arithmetic alone would suggest.

The airport half of the booking

CG-02The airport half of the booking

The airport half of the booking

Birmingham Airport sits on the M42 beside the NEC and East Midlands on the M1 near Castle Donington, and between them they serve most of this region. For long-haul, Heathrow is reached on the M40 and Manchester on the M6, with Luton useful from the southern edge around Northampton. From most of The Midlands the choice comes down to distance against destination, and it is worth checking both before the flight is booked rather than after.

We watch the aircraft from departure. A two-hour hold changes when the chauffeur leaves Birmingham, which keeps the car off the airport clock and the price where the written quotation put it.

Bookings across The Midlands

Why a chauffeur, here

CG-03Why a chauffeur, here

Why a chauffeur, here

The bulk of it is airport work in both directions, followed by hourly hire for days that have more than two fixed points, followed by long-distance runs that replace a change of train. That order holds across most of The Midlands.

After that it thins out into the specific: a wedding at a house nobody can find, a hospital appointment where the return time is unknown, a film crew that needs the same car for a week. All of it is ordinary work.

The written quotation

CG-04The written quotation

The written quotation

Same-day work is normal across The Midlands, though a specific vehicle class is easier to hold with notice. Availability is confirmed on the quotation and never in advance of it.

Cancellation terms are set out on the same document, in plain terms, before anything is committed to. Nothing about a The Midlands booking is buried in a policy you have to go looking for.

08What it costs

How a The Midlands booking is priced

A price does not change by postcode. It changes by vehicle class, by distance and by the hour the journey runs.

Hourly, as directed

By the block

The car held for you between stops, with a minimum block named on the quotation.

Airport transfers

Per journey

Quoted on the drive itself, not on a zone map of The Midlands.

Long distance

By the route

One car and one chauffeur from end to end.

No standing price list. Send the journey on WhatsApp and the written quotation confirms the price, what it includes and any applicable tax. The pricing page sets out what moves a figure, and a written quotation fixes the figure for a specific journey.

09Answers

The Midlands chauffeur questions

What people ask before booking a car in The Midlands.

Which airport is best from the Midlands?

Birmingham or East Midlands for short-haul, because both are inside the region and the drive is short from most of it. For long-haul it comes down to Heathrow on the M40 or Manchester on the M6, and each area page carries indicative drives so the comparison is honest.

Do you cover the NEC, the ICC and the Birmingham venues?

Yes, and regularly. Exhibition weeks change the traffic around the M42 entirely and fill the hotel forecourts from Solihull inwards, so the collection point is agreed in advance and the chauffeur arrives early rather than joining the queue at the front door.

Can one booking cover both halves of the Midlands?

Yes. Birmingham to Nottingham or Leicester in a day is an ordinary hourly booking, with the car waiting between appointments rather than being rebooked at each stop. The M6 and M42 make the timing predictable outside the peaks.

Is a car sensible for the run to London?

From much of the Midlands the train is fast and we would not pretend otherwise. The car earns its place when there is luggage, an early start, several passengers, or a day of meetings at the London end where the chauffeur stays with you throughout. Both are quoted in writing.
