Chauffeur service in Havering — summary

Chauffeur service in Havering, Greater London, booked mainly for airport runs, hourly hire and long-distance driving. The car is held where it can legally stand near Bedfords Park, the chauffeur walks in to meet you, and the boot is loaded before you reach the kerb. From here London Southend is an indicative 30-50 minutes, roughly 22 miles on A12 Eastern Avenue; A127 Southend Arterial Road carries the return. Regular collection points include Queen’s Hospital Romford, Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch and Harold Wood, and the same standard of welcome applies whether the pick-up is a house in Havering or a hotel forecourt. No standing price list is published, and a written quotation confirms the price for your journey out of Havering.

01Before anything else about Havering

Chauffeur service in Havering

The borough takes in Romford, Hornchurch, Upminster, Rainham, Harold Hill, Harold Wood, Collier Row, Elm Park, Gidea Park, Emerson Park, Cranham and the open country at Havering-atte-Bower and Noak Hill. The town hall is on Main Road in Romford, which is also the borough’s commercial centre by some distance.

Coverage is the whole borough, and its defining feature is position. Three of the fastest roads out of London, the A12, the A127 and the A13, all cross it, and the M25 is at the far edge. For a client heading to Essex, Suffolk or the Channel ports, starting in Havering removes an hour from the journey.

03The area

A12 Eastern Avenue, and everything that hangs off it

The street plan of Havering, described by someone reversing into it.

Romford is a substantial town centre with a market square, a ring road and a shopping centre, and it behaves like a town rather than a London suburb. Hornchurch and Upminster are quieter and greener with wide roads and driveways. Rainham in the south sits between the A13 and the marshes and is industrial in character. North of Collier Row the borough becomes properly rural, with lanes and country parks up towards Havering-atte-Bower.

04Demand

Who takes a car from the RM1 district

The journeys Havering books most, and the reasons behind them.

Airport work weighted heavily to Stansted and Southend, both of which are genuinely close, along with cruise transfers to Tilbury and Harwich. Queen’s Hospital on Rom Valley Way generates a steady volume of medical journeys. There is also a good deal of long-distance corporate work into East Anglia and the Midlands, and event travel from the Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch.

05Road time

Setting the collection time in Havering

The hours Havering loses to traffic, and the ones it does not.

The A12 and A127 both queue towards London from before seven and outbound from four, and the M25 at junction 28 is a known bottleneck at both peaks. Romford town centre is slow through Saturday because of the market and the shopping centre. Outside those, the borough moves quickly, and an early departure from Havering for a Stansted flight is one of the easier airport runs in Greater London.

06The kerb

The last two hundred yards in Havering

Why a Havering pick-up is described by kerb rather than by postcode.

Romford town centre has controlled parking and a pedestrianised market area, so collections are from the ring road side streets. Elsewhere in the borough driveways are the norm and the car goes to the door. Rainham and the industrial estates have room but poor lighting. Queen’s Hospital has a defined set-down at the main entrance and a car park that is slow to leave, so we wait outside it rather than in it.

Collection notes for Havering

  • 01Romford market days fill the town centre. Collections happen on the ring road side streets rather than near the square.
  • 02Most Hornchurch, Upminster and Gidea Park addresses have drives, and the chauffeur loads at the door.
  • 03For Queen’s Hospital we set down at the main entrance and hold outside the site; the car park takes too long to leave.
  • 04Northbound long journeys join the M25 at junction 28, which is usually under ten minutes from a Havering address outside the peaks.

07Included as standard

Every Havering booking, as standard

  • 01

London Southend to Havering, door to door

The London Southend car park is paid before you land, so the walk out towards Havering is uninterrupted. Cases onto the trolley, trolley to the boot, then an indicative 30-50 minutes back to Havering. Nobody asks you to find a lift at London Southend or remember which level the car back to Havering is on.

  • 02

The aircraft, not the timetable, into London Southend

Early landings at London Southend get the same attention as late ones, and the car leaves Havering sooner. If London Southend clears you forty minutes ahead of schedule the car is already parked, the board is already up, and the drive to Havering simply starts sooner.

  • 03

    Practised at the Havering handover

Chauffeurs are briefed before they set off: the address in Havering, the entrance, the flight, and anything you have told us about the door you will come out of. None of it is discovered on the Havering pavement.

  • 04

One price for the whole Havering journey

Traffic risk on A12 Eastern Avenue sits with us. A bad morning on A12 Eastern Avenue makes the journey longer and the price identical, which is most of the practical difference between a chauffeur and a metered car.

  • 05

The luggage question, asked in Havering

Awkward items are worth naming: a cello, a wheelchair, a set of display boards for a stand at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch. None of them are a problem, and all of them change which car we send to Havering.

  • 06

    Held between appointments in Havering

At a wedding or an event in Havering the car is usually wanted at both ends of the day rather than continuously. We quote that as one held Havering booking, not two jobs with a gap you end up paying for twice.

08Terminals

Havering to the airports

The first row is the one most Havering bookings use. London Southend at an indicative 30-50 minutes from Havering covers about 22 miles. The rows under it are the alternatives worth considering when the schedule or the terminal suits them better, and all of them are timed from a Havering address at an ordinary hour.

The fleet runs from the Mercedes-Benz E-Class up to the Rolls-Royce Phantom, and every class does the same Havering journey. What changes is the cabin, the luggage capacity and the presence of the car when it stops outside Queen’s Hospital Romford.

Where the choice is genuinely close, tell us what the Havering day is for. A board meeting near Bedfords Park and a family holiday to London Southend pull in different directions, and rarely towards the same car.

Timing a flight from Havering

Timing a flight from Havering

The arithmetic is simple and people still get it wrong: 30-50 minutes of road, plus the walk from the drop-off, plus the queue at the desk, plus whatever A12 Eastern Avenue adds on the day. We do that sum before quoting a Havering collection.

Where the outbound leg is by rail, the same logic applies at Harold Wood: the car reaches the station early, the bags go to the barrier, and you are on the platform instead of in a queue for one.

The drive back into Havering

LF-03The drive back into Havering

The drive back into Havering

The alternative to being met is a phone call from a London Southend car park, a walk with a trolley, a lift you cannot find, and Havering still an hour away. We do the other thing: a person inside the terminal holding a board, who then carries the bags to the car and drives you to Havering.

A second stop on the way in is easy to arrange: a colleague dropped in Romford, or a detour past Queen’s Hospital Romford before home. Put it on the Havering enquiry and it is priced before you travel.

  • Return route into Havering chosen at the airport exit rather than in advance
  • A second drop in Romford priced into the same booking
  • Trains into Harold Wood watched the same way as flights
  • Private arrivals met airside at the London Southend handling agent, then driven to Havering

The car does not circle Havering. If the kerb outside is not available it holds somewhere legal nearby, often on A127 Southend Arterial Road, and comes forward when you say you are ready. None of that costs you a minute in Havering.

Everything after the Havering door closes is designed to be uneventful. The chauffeur takes A12 Eastern Avenue if it is moving and the back way past Hornchurch Country Park if it is not, and either way the arrival time you were given is the one we are driving to.

  • Gated entrances and courtyards in Havering checked in advance

We treat a train into Harold Wood the way we treat a flight. Twenty minutes lost somewhere before Harold Wood moves the chauffeur's start time in Havering and changes nothing else about your booking.

Where a car into Havering and a train are on the same itinerary, one written quotation covers both from our side. You are not assembling a Havering journey out of separate arrangements that each assume the others went well.

Two fixed points in Havering is a transfer. Four is an hourly Havering booking. Somewhere between them the sums change, and in Havering the crossover usually arrives at about the third stop.

Papers, coats and shopping stay in the cabin between Havering stops. That sounds minor until you have carried a laptop bag round Hornchurch Country Park for six hours because the car was parked somewhere else.

Four things make a quotation possible: the date, the address in Havering, where you are going and how many of you there are. Everything after that about the Havering journey is refinement rather than requirement.

Changes to a Havering booking are normal. Flights move, meetings overrun, and a collection in Havering that was booked for nine becomes eleven. Tell us and we requote the Havering journey in writing if the price changes at all.

17Answers

Havering chauffeur questions

Answers about Havering, not general ones. If yours is missing, ask about your own address on A12 Eastern Avenue.

Which airport works best from Havering?

Southend and Stansted are both close, at roughly twenty-two and twenty-seven miles, and either is usually inside an hour. London City is nearer still by distance but the A13 approach is slower. Gatwick and Heathrow are both long journeys from here and we quote them honestly as such.

Do you cover the rural north of the borough?

Yes, including Havering-atte-Bower, Noak Hill and the lanes around the country parks. They are quiet but slow, unlit in places, and worth a few extra minutes on an early departure. The chauffeur confirms the access to the property beforehand rather than finding a gravel track in the dark.

Can you do cruise transfers from Havering to Tilbury or Harwich?

Both, regularly. Tilbury is a short run down the A13 and through the crossing; Harwich is about an hour and a half up the A12 in good conditions. Luggage for a cruise is the main variable, so tell us the number of cases and we will send a vehicle that takes them in one go.

How busy is Romford town centre for a pickup?

Busier than most outer London centres, particularly on market days and Saturdays. The middle is pedestrianised and the ring road is signal-heavy, so we collect from a side street off it and the chauffeur walks in. From the residential streets around it the picture is much simpler.
